ARTIST COMMISSION IN FILM AND VIDEO
REFF are giving out three bursaries of £300 each to film makers for the Festival in October 2009. Please read on to apply.
ENTRY CRITERIA:
Productions must be independently produced, with the maker retaining complete editorial control and copyright. However the film must be premiered at REFF in October 2009.
Productions must have been completed and submitted to REFF by 01/10/09. The film can be made in any format, but a finished copy should be transferred to DVD. The piece should be approximately 3 minutes long and as we are featuring Guy Sherwin performing 'Man with Mirror', it should relate to the theme of light. REFF is looking for new approaches to this theme.
READING EXPERIMENTAL FILM FESTIVAL:
In its first year, REFF featured a selection of films from Jordan Baseman, John Smith, Tine Keane, Alex Pearl, Erica Scourti, Nick Jordan and Jacob Cartwright amongst others. It also included a retrospective of the French filmmaker Jean-Gabriel Periot, and a specially curated programme of The Audible Picture Show by Matt Hulse, as well as live improvised music to two 30-minute films. Building on its reputation, this second year will feature an evening of performance by Guy Sherwin, including his seminal early 1970's piece 'Man with Mirror'. It will also feature a curated programme of some of the work made by the London Film Makers Co-Op from this time, as well as submissions, commissions and other curated programmes.
